This is just one of the colour morphs. Check the link to see range of larval colours.

Re: Sphinx moth caterpillar I think
The eggs can be removed. I have done it before. There is always a chance the eggs have hatched and are already inside the larva although they usually leave small entry wounds.

Wayne Whaley has a map of all the indra ssp. His website seems to be down. I contacted him for a copy but have yet to hear back.

Re: 2022 Collecting
I live in Kingston and I concur with Chuck’s assessment of our regular meteorological ass kicking. I did not get out much. My limited observations seemed to suggest that it was a bad year here and I didn’t see many species at large during the day. At night, I started looking for larvae with a UV fla...

That’s true Chuck, I misunderstood what was being meant by “polymodal.”

Re: Genetic-linked polymodal emergence
In the situation where group A begets A and group B begets B, I personally don’t consider that polymodal. Any one group has a single emergence peak! It would be more accurate to say there are in fact 2 populations, and if the temporal isolation is sustained, these may eventually evolve into 2 separa...

Re: Is it possible for a green colored chrysalis of Papilio polyxenes to diapause?
Pupal color will not correlate with diapause with this species. Hold a strong light, like from a phone camera, to the head of the pupa and transilluminate. If you don’t see dark areas where the eyes are going to form after 15 days, it’s going to diapause. I'm not sure which end the eyes are, but th...

Re: Embedding Youtube videos
Not sure what you mean by formatting. It’s just copy and paste the URL. I randomly found a butterfly video and clicked on share, copied the URL, and pasted. The above link works.

Re: The silence....
No matter how I try to resize a photo with my iphone, the actual size of the file remained the same. So I now email myself the photo and then it gives you the option of sending a small, medium, or large version of the file. I then save the image from my email and upload that. On the screen of my pho...
