Re: Juvisy Insect Fair 2024

Unlike the USA, France is a collector friendly place. You have nothing to declare or fill on the French side (as long as you don't buy protected species). If you want to mail it, you should better use the French post system called Colissimo (cheaper and less procedurial than DHL). In the parcel decl...

Re: Rarities in Charaxes

There are 2 important rules in taxonomy : #1 : you have to follow the latest publication. So in this case Bouyer 2023. (We now have scientific techniques like DNA analysis we didn't have in 2009). #2 : InsectNet members are always right, so once again, you have to follow Bouyer 2023 (@africaone on t...

To and fro in the archipelago: Repeated inter-island dispersal and New Guinea’s orogeny affect diversification of Delias

The City College of New York, led by David Lohman, has just published a major research project on the Delias genus, in which I participated. I recommend that you all read it, as it's a very thorough study with many conclusions, not only in taxonomic terms, but also in terms of evolution, biogeograph...

Re: Agrias butterflies

Long time I didn't post anything here. A rare Agrias phalcidon fournierae form rebillardi . Even rarer than the typical rebillardi form, this is a bicolor form with purple below the red patch. There are few other bicolor rebillardi specimens known. The purple effect is due to a red suffusion mixed i...

Re: Where to buy: Bioquip folding net "National Park Special"

As long as entomological authorities remain "silent" on that topic, the future of our hobby is indeed at risk. Museum authorities of the world should launch a "give kids a net" campaign. + they need to defend the insect trade as Wang, Pierce, Lohman & al did in July 2023 : &q...

Re: IMPORTANT NEWS : Papilio lampsacus is not extinct !

No because there are still some good forests on some mountains.
This said, that's why it is important to have the locality known.

IMPORTANT NEWS : Papilio lampsacus is not extinct !

There was much debate in our community about the status of Papilio lampsacus , which had not been seen and/or caught for many years on Java. Some of its localities have been totally destroyed by urbanisation and logging. Many thought that this once common species had disappeared. Some thought that t...

Re: Bad Trading Report - Javier Castillo Garcia

Ebay's fees have grown so much that many sellers are going to Etsy. Etsy has a complaint protocol, any problems should go through Etsy. Beyond that, Etsy is usually paid by credit card, so one can dispute the charges. When a new member shows up here just to complain I have a bit of suspicion. And, ...
