Re: Dysschema howardi
The prominent blue and orange coloration on the abdomen of another of my local tiger moths (Hypercompe scribonia) clearly says "foul tasting" to predators - https://i.pinimg.com/736x/94/c2/75/94c275ed1f22a7716c7436382784468e--leopard-moth-this-morning.jpg https://www.animalspot.net/wp-cont...

Re: The genus Nessaea
The blue colors of the Nessaea butterflies are indeed quite unique looking. Thus far, I've only been able to obtain a couple of male specimens of N. hewitsoni - https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/59/Nessaea_hewitsonii_hewitsonii_%2829629407556%29.jpg Catonephele is another really strik...

Re: Lexias albopunctata
It's difficult to choose, but if I had to pick a favorite species of Lexias, I'd probably say Lexias pardalis, of which I have several subspecies - https://live.staticflickr.com/7891/32985290108_fc66593137_b.jpg I also have a single specimen of Lexias satrapes amlana - https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d4/6...

I wasn't aware of this species either, and it occurs just to the west of where I am. Arctiinae were always one of my favorite groups of moths to look for in the spring / summer in my younger years, and I reared quite a few Estigmene acrea - https://www.discoverlife.org/IM/I_MPG/0250/mx/Estigmene_acr...

Z. cesonia is nearly always the first butterfly that I see around my place every spring, especially on dandelions. Do you also have specimens of Z. eurydice? -

Re: ID Help on this Orange and Black fellow.
The genus Catacanthus (the man-faced stink bugs) are surely among the most distinctive looking hemipterans in the world, with their bold colors and patterns. There are around 15 species of them, and as adamcotton mentioned, the one in your photo appears to be Catacanthus incarnatus, which has red, o...

You certainly have some unusual and difficult to obtain specimens. How long have you been collecting?

That's a beautiful Charaxes that I've not yet been able to obtain, even though it's not "rare", and has a rather wide distribution across eastern and southern Africa.

Re: Polyura dehanii
My dehanii, along with most of the rest of my collection, are currently in storage. Attached is a photo that I had among my files, though I'm not sure if this is actually one that I took of one of my own specimens, or one that I came across online. I suspect it's probably not one of mine, as the ima...

Re: Euryphura concordia
Very interesting & informative. Was unaware of the situation regarding our distant ancestors. Did you or would you try those glasses anyway? I'd try the glasses, if I got the opportunity, but I'd probably find it rather strange to suddenly not have my color perception focused primarily on the b...

Re: Euryphura concordia
It is pinkish blue. I have a pair. The colour is very unusual. The underside is really beautiful too. Some suggest that it mimics Crenis pechuelli. The colouring is very similar in these two species though C pechuelli is smaller. Sorry to hear about your Red/Green colour blindness. Presumably you h...

Re: Euryphura concordia
Very interesting - I don't think I've ever seen a butterfly that particular color. I'm red-green color blind, but it appears to be a shade of pink(?) to me.

Well, I see that the new forum is already being aggressively targeted by spambots. Hopefully, the administrators have some settings available in the forum's software to help alleviate this issue.

Re: Polyura dehanii
This is one of my all-time favorite butterfly species. I long thought I'd never obtain a specimen, but just last year I was able to purchase a fine pair (and at a lower price than I expected). They're in truly pristine condition, and so as daveuk mentioned, it does seem that some were captive bred.

Re: A living jewel, Thermozephyrus ataxus
Papilio bianor ganesa Papilio bianor ganesa comes from Nepal, Bhutan and just east of there. Your specimen is Papilio bianor triumphator . I recently published a paper about these two subspecies with Shao-ji Hu and Yutaka Inayoshi, and we designated a lectotype for Papilio ganesa Westwood, 1842. It...

You have some great species that I don't often (if ever) see available (not in the US, at least). I've looked for a US dealer with montrouzieri for quite some time, without success. I do have some specimens of the sea green swallowtail (P. lorquinianus), though - https://i.pinimg.com/736x/39/9e/8b/3...
