Daphnis nerii

Since there are no posts on this topic, I'll start it off with a painting of Daphnis nerii, the Oleander Hawkmoth. While I was working on the painting it started to rain, so I added the raindrops.

I'm trying to upload a picture from my computer to use as an avatar. It is 558 KB. The instructions say to click on Attachments below the message box. I see no such link. What am I doing wrong?

About 15 years ago I was lucky enough to stumble across a colony of these near downtown Houston, TX. There was a large hedge of Senna in bloom. The males would patrol the top of the hedge in search of females, which often stopped to nectar on the flowers. After awhile I was able to predict the fligh...

If you're looking for butterflies anywhere in Texas, the best resource is "Finding Butterflies in Texas" by Roland Wauer. It has detailed maps on where to look, plus species lists for each region. It's out of print, but I saw a few copies available on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1854012...
