Re: Net bag color?
I suppose that to some extent whether the net in the video is good or bad depends on what you are trying to catch and how you use the net. When I was collecting large butterflies (swallowtails of course) mud-puddling I didn't need to use the net in the same way you describe, just place the extended ...

Beware of scammers who may see your post and offer what you want without actually having them for sale. Before paying someone you don't know you should verify that they really have the spiders to send you.

Are they allowed to seize his whole collection, or only those specimens which were illegally imported?

Congratulations on what appears to be an excellent 'magnum opus'.
This is a seriously important paper for all Delias enthusiasts.

This should be a form of the highly variable Epicopeia polydora which is indeed a Müllerian mimic with many Byasa species.

When a new member shows up here just to complain I have a bit of suspicion. And, note, there's not details. Harry is not a new member, I have known him for many years. He rarely posted on the old Insectnet, just reads avidly. I was asked by Harry personally by e-mail about the issue a few days ago ...

Re: Forewing length vs. wingspan
That's why the average and number of samples helps. If most are in the middle of the range the average will also be approximately in the middle too, assuming a reasonable number of samples. If the average is skewed to one side and the 'n' value is low, then it is obvious that an outlier has affected...

Re: Forewing length vs. wingspan
So what is the value of FCL? Yes, it can be consistently measured. But it doesn't really tell us about the actual size of the specimen Forewing length can be very useful when comparing between different taxa. There may also be differences between generations of the same taxon. It is a good idea to ...

Perhaps you have the wrong variety/species, some do not attract butterflies, or maybe local conditions are not favourable to nectar production.wollastoni wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 1:21 pm But in my garden, it seems to have no effect at all on the butterflies I have in the area
