Colotis regina. South Africa My only specimens of this species from South Africa are these two males. Quite unlike the regina I have from other parts of Africa. Slightly smaller & with wing tips of a more reddish lilac colour. Yet again my photos do not really do them justice. probably dry seas...

tarandus is only found in occidental africa (RCI, Ghana, etc.), regius is found in Cameroun and Gabon (mandibles quite straight, pointed and elongated) and imperator is found in Congo, Uganda and Tanzania(Mandibules quite different from that of regius) paper can be downloaded here https://www.resear...
