Re: Belenois

Your "aberration of B. calypso " is B. subeida , either the nominate or ssp. frobeniusi (although the latter is known from N. Cameroon, and not CAR). Thanks once again for the identification on that one. How good it is to have someone with a wealth of knowledge about African butterflies o...

A male Colotis regina from Democratic Republic of Congo
& a close up of the purple tip. I find it impossible to take a photograph adequate enough to convey the beauty of the structural colouration in these butterflies. The wing tips change from reddish purple all the way to violet blue.

Re: Atrophaneura hageni

Always led to believe that this was a full species. Am now reading that it is considered a sub species of A priapus. It is certainly closely related to A. priapus but I don't think it's conspecific. I have not read or seen any evidence for this, where did you see it? Adam. Wikipedia..not the best s...

Pieris brassicae

A typical female & a "pink" female.
Also a darker "pink" Pieris rapae female.
Have not tampered with these photos. The specimens are this colour.
I have seen examples of these "pink" specimens in several British collections but have no idea how they were produced.
