Unfortunately I heard the badly managed tourism on these small islands is a disaster for the endemic treasures of the Andamans.

Re: Hebomoia glaucippe

I believe that the Andamans are one of the most inhospitable places on earth. Few westerners visit there. Chuck also mentioned in one of the last communications I had with him that Nias Island has sadly become just as inhospitable recently. Feel very lucky to have both these subspecies for that rea...

Re: Recognized publication outlets?

I’m often reading the forum on my phone and very much appreciate the larger font! Of course I can resize my screen and move it around to read, but the large font is both easier to read and stays within the boundary of the frame. Aging eyes For this kind of reading issues, you can automatically enla...

Re: Recognized publication outlets?

Chuck, no I would... vabrou : please stop using large font. It is horrible to read. And it gives us the impression you are shouting... And I don't see why you have to denigrate Leroy in this topic saying he is "simple"... Read our first rule please : https://forum.insectnet.com/viewtopic....

Re: Recognized publication outlets?

Some small journals are very specialised and very interesting. Like Sugapa, created by my late friend Henk van Mastrigt and Rob de Vos from the Leiden Museum, are very specialised on Papuan insects and full of great articles for those who like New Guinean insects. https://www.sugapa.org/all-articles...

How to see "Recent posts" as on the old forum ?

As asked by Paul, and I guess many other members, our tech team has added a "Recent Posts" section in the Quick Links.
It enables you to see all recent posts on the same page.

Direct link is here : app.php/recent/posts

Re: How to see "new threads" only ?

Kind of disappointed with the new layout of this forum. Can’t see new post unless specifically enter thread. I’m already missing a lot and I won’t bother to participate. I suppose it’s easier if one target specific subject but for everyday browsing what’s new it is no no, just my thoughts Paul, you...

Re: Panacea bleuzeni

Endemic from the "Montagne de Kaw", a small area in French Guiana where I staid last year.

I saw only some old specimens in bait traps.
They are not so common but on some years, they can have a population explosion.

A splendid species.

Re: Collecting El Salvador

Jason, most tropical countries do like El Salvador now : you need local permits which are given to scientists only. But this can be done : try to find a US University or Museum who will support your permit application. A lot of University and Museums don't have the funds to organize tropical expedit...

I have caught some Nessaea in French Guiana.
At flight, their blue bands are forming a "blue laser". Wonderful to see.

Interesting, thank you.
Would be cool to have some biotope pictures and to know which species were rare.
