As hobbyist/aesthetic/part time/unpaid collectors, MOST OF US (a few exceptions) do not process tens of thousands of specimens each year, so we can take the time to arrange legs in life like positions. I do, however, still very much like...

Re: Ghostly traveler in the pale moonlight
A few personal thoughts, My sister, who lives in the nearby town of Hudson Bay, here in NE central Saskatchewan, discovered a beautiful fresh male luna moth on the wall of her house, directly below a bug zapper, one night in late June 2022. First time in her life (73 years) she ever saw one. I would...

I also have that magazine issue & made a color copy of that cover that now hangs in my... errr... bathroom... indeed reminding me, each morning, of my youth, & of how much enjoyment this hobby has (& still continues to bring) all these years later.

Fantastic!! Please keep the pics/explanations coming as time allows. Great pics also for such tiny, weird shaped subjects. Really enjoy seeing obscure insect families apart from countless leps!

Re: Treehoppers from Ecuador
Look forward to seeing some of those pics (no hurry). Thanks for quick replies. These little beasties have fascinated me for years, especially the bizarre tropical ones. I quit buying exotic insect specimens about 10 years ago (have enough anyway still needing mounting up!) when our Canadian dollar ...

Re: Treehoppers from Ecuador
Glad you liked it Trehopr! I recall in a former forum? you showed us some of your collection of treehoppers. Any chance you could again refresh our memories with some pics of your favourite local/most exotic/bizarre spp.? (group photos as you like, not individual?, as way too much effort I would thi...

Treehoppers from Ecuador
Hello all, Ran across this interesting video on Youtube about treehoppers... those often bizarre, tiny little plant suckers that can have amazing adornments projecting from their thoraxes. I think many of us will never get a chance to see some of these in real life & this video is quite educatio...

Re: Metal Halide Bulbs
I have a new (2 yrs) 1000w MH trap & it drew in tremendous numbers of moths. One night in mid June last year it drew in a dozen H. c. gloveri . I have used MV bulbs for 40+ years to good effect & am experimenting now with new MH bulbs. I also repurposed a small 100w MH trap this spring (orig...

Re: Exploring Hemileuca eglanterina Country
Great video & editing... filmed mostly by your daughter I see. Love to see Hemileuca in real life... sadly nowhere close to Saskatchewan. Right place & right time indeed to find such freshly eclosed individuals! I thought others have described them as very hard to catch on the wing. Love to ...
