I saw several Falcate Orangetips (Anthocharis midea) today. It is usually the first butterfly of the spring brood in my area. Also saw a snout butterfly (Libytheana bachmanii) and a couple of UFOs. Time to dust off my net.

That female is fabulous!

I see Phoebis sennae & A. andria on warm days all winter long. A. andria hides under bark. Not sure about P. sennae.

My light rig has a 400w MV bulb (clear, not frosted) on one side of the sheet and four 40w, 48" UV fluorescent bulbs on the other side. The side with the MV light gets a lot more bugs. I use a generator for power.

I ordered some plastazote from them. They were very nice and the order was delivered promptly. I plan to become a regular customer.

Livingplanet, I've never heard of Lantana described as smelling like "citus, pine, & gasoline". To me it has a very pleasant odor, and you can smell it without cutting it. It's definitely not odorless.

This is one of only 2 specimens I have. This one is in poor condition and the other one is worse. I hope to find better ones but I seldom see them. If anyone has collecting tips for this species, please post them here.

Anna, do you routinely remove the abdomens and glue them back on? If not, how do you keep the wings from greasing?
