C. mira or C. blandula
I have these 8 specimens which I've collected over the past few years. I've gone back and forth thinking they were C. mira or C. blandula. Currently I am of the opinion that the majority are C. mira and at least the darkest one (bottom left in first photo) is C. blandula. Looking for input from othe...

Re: Agrias butterflies
Looking for some opinions on what species/subspecies this is. To me looks like A. claudina... But it doesn't look like the forms I'd expect based on collection data. I'm just going based of info online. Data: Rio Tapajos, Amazonas state, Brazil Wingspan 80mm IMG_20240908_200417745~2.jpg IMG_20240908...

Re: Agrias butterflies
Congratulations on finishing school! It's quite a bit of work and time. My suggestion if I may- don't buy commercially, use that money to go there. You're young enough to learn to handle the hardships and maximize collecting efforts. Why buy one when you can catch ten? It certainly would be awesome...

Re: Agrias butterflies
I'm entering a new phase in my collecting now that I am working full-time and out of school (YAY!). Currently, I'm expanding my South American Nymphalidae. I finally snagged my favorite species of butterfly of all time ( Agrias narcissus ) for a reasonable price. I also have some other nice Agrias o...

Speyeria hydaspe purpurascens?
Putting aside the discussion of Speyeria vs Argynnis, is the subspecies Speyeria hydaspe purpurascens (Edwards, 1877) valid? Or is it a synonym with a different ssp.? Couldn't seem to find much info online.
Thanks!
Tim

Re: Three (hybrid) P. zelicaon x P. polxenes coloro (females)
Here's a hybrid pair I bought several years ago.
Supposedly a pair of hybrid P. polyxenes asterius X P. machaon oregonius

I don't have a lot of them but here's what I have pinned. Certainly a beautiful Genus.
