Thank you for your vigilance, I have deleted his accounts.

No problem!

This just gets better and better.
Yes, those are Argema mimosa cocoons depicted.
In America, we also write dates differently, we write 06/20/25, not 20/06/25
While you may ship them in the USA, it is illegal since they ...

Possible Scammer - Amy Carryington/Nelson Mhongo

I enquired about the ad below via the given email and asked the seller for the price per cocoon and a picture with today's date on it. They sent me pictures with today's date from a completely different email than the one listed in the ad. Not only that, they sent photos of what appear to be African ...

You could contact him via Etsy and ask if the email to you is from him.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure he's legit now.

Re: Has anyone heard of the seller Roger An?

butterflygirl,

I don't think kevink was in any way implying that you wouldn't have paid on receipt. I think he just meant that you can't expect a seller to want to send goods without payment up front.

On the other hand, you definitely did the right thing posting on Insectnet to check whether ...

Re: Has anyone heard of the seller Roger An?

If the email is unsolicited, I'd be more than cautious. It's probably a scam, that means most likely, not 100%. I get unsolicited email often
enough, and never answer it unless I am familiar with the individual. We all have regular contacts,
and sometimes those persons will contact me, but I know ...

Has anyone heard of the seller Roger An?

I was just contacted by someone calling themselves Roger An using the gmail address roger.an.99@gmail.com. I told them I no longer use the friends and family option nor do I send money to sellers I am unfamiliar with and must receive the livestock first. They asked me if I would send them half now ...

Re: Acherontia atropos feeding

Don't give up! I raised a brood of atropos last year. I started them on potato, they ran through that and I finished them on olive.
It was stressful though until I found an alternate for the potato they'd accept. One can never tell until you try.
They may be more receptive to switching food plant ...

Re: Acherontia atropos feeding

Atropos can be raised to maturity on artificial diet. I have seen pictures of the operation, but haven't tried it myself.
Ova should hatch fairly quickly, maybe 7 days.
You can buy artificial diet easily, typically it's used for Manduca sexta rearing for reptile feeders.

Sadly, I couldn't get ...

Re: Acherontia atropos feeding

Update: My moths have laid eggs while I was sick (I've been feeding them, the ones that will eat) after pairing for a couple of days. I want to keep some of the eggs but I'm not sure what to do with the rest as I have no idea when the eggs were laid. Would they travel well as small larvae on food? I ...

Re: Acherontia atropos feeding

Try asking this question at this website- Actias.de
it has more users in the EU, who are going to have more experience
with non- natives.
Hand feeding is a little stressful for all involved, some species will
get used to the process, and may feed themselves from a fake
flower or dish. The ...

Acherontia atropos feeding

Is there a less stressful way for me to feed my DH Hawkmoths than force-feeding them? I have difficulty hand-feeding them because my hands are unsteady and I'm prone to muscle jerks which makes me afraid I'll decapitate the moth or stab it when I'm unfurling the proboscis with a toothpick. I also ...
