Re: Automeris

The Automeris genus is one of my favorites. I recently acquired quite a few specimens from an old collection. Not all of them are A1 quality, but they are quite variable. Here are some of those specimens. A. lauta Mexico https://i.imgur.com/HdbZIE0.jpg Pseudoautomeris luteata https://i.imgur.com/v0q...

Sorry for the late response, but thank you very much for your determination.

Peru Saturnids

I have checked a couple of the world Saturnid sites and can not find an id for this pair of Automeris. https://i.imgur.com/Epu1HZh.jpg This following moth puzzles me. It doesn't look like anything that would come from South America. The person I got this from had 3 of these, all with the same data s...

Re: Resourceful Entomology

This was posted before with the link to build your own drawers. The instructions are pretty good. They do fail to show you how to properly glue up the corners. I built 5 drawers out of poplar and they turned out pretty good. I couldn't find the corner staples so I made splines to strengthen the corn...

Re: Papilio hermeli

Looking more closely at the second male, it looks more like P. chikae based on the spatulate tails. You should check the forewing underside, in hermeli the apical and subapical areas are strongly suffused with grey scales, whereas in chikae these scales are more diffuse, except near the tornal angl...

adamcotton wrote: Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:09 pm Actually if this is from West Ecuador it is a separate species to Papilio astyalus, P. anchicayaensis. Thank you for posting the photo of this interesting species.

Adam.
Thanks Adam for the information. Unfortunately the data that was on this only has Ecuador as a location.
