On further inspection, I'm now wondering if it is actually just a common centipede (Lithobius forficatus), and the effects of death (turned from orange to brown and contracted to appear fatter) threw me off?

Weird centipede(?), UK

I found this whilst doing some cleaning. It was (thankfully) already dead.
My first though was that it was a house centipede, but apparently these are really rare in the UK (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-68055122), and the legs look to be too short.
Any other ideas?

Thanks for the advice.
If I want to play the role of naive optimist, is there any way of telling if that's a male or female? Maybe it was eggless and just in search of a mate?
If not, I'm guessing it would be nesting in a warm place? I've checked the boiler and hot-water tank, but there's a few ...

I live in a flat, so bug-bombing isn't ideal - any tips for routing them out without going to those extremes?

Found in UK kitchen

Hi, I found this bug in my kitchen today,
Saw a similar one in the living room a couple of weeks back - ran across just below the TV.
This is the south of the UK. It's about 15mm in length.
