Seems they'll over most of the northern US eventually, probably tagging along when people move.

It's a moth in the family Geometridae. An upperside view would be easier for providing an ID but maybe something like Rheumaptera hastata.

We don't have fireflies here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm not sure why either, Indiana didn't seem all that different... The bright form is the male and dusky form the female. Generally these spread north through Colorado east of the continental divide and can be regular at some spots along with Eurema mexicana. One year was extra big where they seemed everywhere on both sides of the divide.

Not sure where you live, but demoleus is now established in parts of the US and common in the Caribbean. I've not heard of any records of demoleus from the mainland US (only the Caribbean). Have there now been some sightings from Florida? If this species were to turn up anywhere on the mainland, FL...
