Seems they'll over most of the northern US eventually, probably tagging along when people move.

I'd be game for something, might be wiser to vrbo or something with ac and a freezer instead of an rv.

I am shocked you have never had the ubiquitous Hyles lineata, are they very uncommon where you live?

Ones on the right are subspecies resplendens which has sometimes been considered the same as pseudochristina. I agree they look more like christina to me as well.

Here is a terrible cellphone pic from the Elmore County Idaho locality.

Note the two species of Colias in the middle but I couldn't get too close without disturbing the swarm of Mormon crickets. 8-)

Re: Colorado Hairstreak: A gem from the western U.S.

I've found it in some pretty marginal habitats and it seems to be good at colonizing new patches of trees, in Utah at least. Has it eve...

Re: Unusual Butterfly

It's a moth in the family Geometridae. An upperside view would be easier for providing an ID but maybe something like Rheumaptera hastata.

Re: N. American fireflies threatened

We don't have fireflies here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm not sure why either, Indiana didn't seem all that different... Re: Sleepy Orange (Abaeis nicippe)

The bright form is the male and dusky form the female. Generally these spread north through Colorado east of the continental divide and can be regular at some spots along with Eurema mexicana. One year was extra big where they seemed everywhere on both sides of the divide.

Not sure where you live, but demoleus is now established in parts of the US and common in the Caribbean. I've not heard of any records of demoleus from the mainland US (only the Caribbean). Have there now been some sightings from Florida? If this species were to turn up anywhere on the mainland, FL...
