It's been awhile since I've done a painting, but I finally got around to it. Canvas size is 36 x 36 inches. Done in acrylic.

Re: Journalists- total morons

The thing that annoys me is the spell-check app on my desktop. When I try to make insect labels, it always changes the spelling of the Latin name to some similar English word. Plus, it usually capitalizes the species name. If I don't pay careful attention, I wind up with a bunch of worthless labels ...

Re: Journalists- total morons

You would think that people with journalism degrees could write and spell, but not so. I notice grammatical mistakes every day in print and on television. Chuck, I hope your daughter listens to your advice and chooses another field. If she doesn't, maybe she'll become one of the rare journalists who ...

The current issue (March) of National Geographic magazine features an article about the late lepidopterist Rustam Effendi. Good story, written by his daughter.

Re: Remember these reference books? And antiques

Several years ago I downloaded a copy of "A Naturalist in Cannibal Land" & printed it out. I read part of it (captivating narrative), then loaned it to someone else. Thanks for reminding me to get it back.

Re: Remember these reference books? And antiques

Nice library! It brings back lots of memories. I have some of those books, including the century-old ones, but not all. I hope you will hang onto them instead of diposing of them when you move.

Orangetips

Falcate orangetips (Anthocharis midea) are now on the wing in my area. Other species should follow shortly. Time to dust off my net. Hopefully 2025 will be a good season.
